It will take time, effort, and one hell of a lot of research – particularly into alternative forms of propulsion (and I don’t think an Orion vessel would be practical for anything short of extrasolar colonization missions, unless there’s a hell of a lot more fissile material on Earth than we ever dreamed possible) – but we’ll get back there eventually, even if it means partnering with companies like SpaceX.
