“Andy is a librarian in New Jersey. He spends his days surrounded by vast amounts of information which he consumes on a fairly regular basis. And he loves games of all sorts as well as grilling.”
The opinions I express are my own and do not represent my employer. (Or, for that matter, most other people.)
I was named a 2010 Library Journal Mover & Shaker.
My blog was the recipient of the only Honorable Mention ever awarded on the LISNews “Top 10 Librarian Blogs to Read in 2010″. Read and you’ll see why. This blog has also received First Place in the Salem Press Blog Awards in 2010.
I am the creator of the Facebook Group called “People for a Library Themed Ben & Jerry’s Flavor” which has been reported internationally. I also moderate the Save NJ Libraries Facebook group with over 15,000 members. I also use Facebook to organize librarian social meetups on a fairly (ir)regular basis; this allows librarians from all over the state to come, have a drink, and chat with their fellow librarians.
You can follow me on Twitter. Every now and again, I ask my Twitter followers a library-related question with the #andypoll hashtag. It has been the inspiration for some blog posts as well as received some excellent feedback. I didn’t invent the #followalibrarian hashtag, but I did promote the hell out of it early on. After a year, it is still going strong.
During the viral Old Spice social media marketing campaign, I was lucky enough to get a reply from the Old Spice guy himself.
