About the author

The opinions I express are my own and do not represent my employer. (Or, for that matter, most other people.)

My blog was the recipient of  the only Honorable Mention ever awarded on the LISNews “Top 10 Librarian Blogs to Read in 2010”. Read and you’ll see why. This blog has also received First Place in the Salem Press Blog Awards in 2010.

I am the creator of the Facebook Group called “People for a Library Themed Ben & Jerry’s Flavor” which has been reported internationally. I also moderate the Save NJ Libraries Facebook group with over 15,000 members. I also use Facebook to organize librarian social meetups on a fairly (ir)regular basis; this allows librarians from all over the state to come, have a drink, and chat with their fellow librarians.

You can follow me on Twitter. Every now and again, I ask my Twitter followers a library-related question with the #andypoll hashtag. It has been the inspiration for some blog posts as well as received some excellent feedback. I didn’t invent the #followalibrarian hashtag, but I did promote the hell out of it early on. After a year, it is still going strong.

I am the caretaker of the A View From Your Desk Tumblr, which is people submit pictures of their librarian workspace. I have my own personal Tumblr which has been christened Idea Lab.

My more-than-likely-updated CV.

During the viral Old Spice social media marketing campaign, I was lucky enough to get a reply from the Old Spice guy himself.

My take on the reply and reaction.

If you want to contact me regarding the blog, speaking engagements, presentations, or what’s on your mind, leave a comment on this page with your email. This page is moderated so your comment will show up in my queue. Your email address will not be shared with anyone. I will email you as soon as possible;    Thanks.

  6. Hi Andy –

You don’t know me – I’m a bookbinder in Montreal, and active in a bunch of freedom of speech issues, as well as the defense of the bound book (though I’m not against e-books, I don’t think they’re for everyone) … So this is just a note to say that I’ve added you to my blogroll (see web address, above).

Please inform if anything in my description doesn’t sit well (“Librarian Andy Woodworth, Mover and Shaker”).

    best,
    fran

  7. Hi Andy – I’ve just heard about your ebook user bill of rights, and will be putting a post up on MissManifesto about it tomorrow, but I’d like to talk to you about going a bit more indepth and doing a guest post on the site if you’re interested. My post will be very high level and about the crusade/my thoughts around it rather than anything a bit deeper.

If you’re interested, could you contact me? Thanks!

  10. My name is Emily and I’m an MLIS student at Rutgers. This semester I have an internship with the Collingswood Public Library in NJ. They want to begin offering ebooks so I am looking into different platforms for them. I wanted to reach out and see if you would be up for answering a few questions about what’s out there for public libraries right now.

  11. Hi Andy,

I have an infographic of the top children’s books of 2013, I believe you will be interested in. I wanted to reach out and give you more information.

    Best,
    Jessica

  12. I’d like to “talk” with you about your Library Journal article, “Programs That Boil, Bake, and Sizzle!” I’m interested in creating some cooking or food classes here where I work.
    Thank you in advance,
    Sherry
